Over the past six months or so, I have written many articles about music in my life. I have written about my favorite artist of all time (see post Why I love Taylor Swift and so should you) . I have also written about the different concerts I have been to including Carly Rae Jepsen and the Jonas Brothers.
Music has been there through all the different phases of my life. I remember listening to Taylor Swift’s Fifteen on repeat when I started high school. I remember my freshman year of college being defined by Post Malone’s Beerbongs and Bentleys album and my junior year of college characterized by Jonas Brother’s Happiness Begins. I didn’t realize the extent to which music played a role in my life until I saw my Spotify Premium Wrapped: Year in Review at the beginning of 2020. I wasn’t aware of how many minutes a year I spend exploring various albums and jamming out.
Music has been a vital component of my study routine. I became addicted to listening to Piano Guys when I am studying for an important exam. It helps calm me down and makes me much more focused. I used to not like classical music but I now realize that it helps me study a lot better. If I am not listening to something, I can get distracted much more easily.
I also love listening to music when I drive. I also cannot go without it especially for long car rides. The best part is jamming out to 2000’s hits with my friends when we are driving back from road trips.
Music has been there through all the ups and downs of life including moving across the country for school and navigating through major life changes. It has helped play a role in stability. I hope other people can find calm and peace through music.
