During my junior year as a way of making sure I stay on track of all of my school work and not get distracted by new TV shows, I am only rewatching shows. I have already gone through all ten seasons of Friends and all 7 seasons of Gilmore Girls. I am slowly making my way through all 7 seasons of New Girl. New Girl is definitely different from those other two shows. It brings much more excitement and humor. It is also much more vulgar. It focuses on the lives of four people (Jess, Winston, Nick, and Schmidt) after Jess moves into the loft in Los Angeles. Each episode focuses on their apartment life and the various relationships each character is involved in. The two main love stories in the show are between Jess and Nick and Schmidt and Cece, Jess’s best friend.
I can relate to this show on many levels. This show really highlights the bonds of friendship. Each character is super quirky but you fall in love with each of them. It is really hard for me to find a character I dislike. Each have their shining moments. Jess is defined by her cheerful and warmhearted personality. Nick is characterized by his kindness while Schmidt is known for his persistence and determined mindset. Winston is known as the funny one in the apartment.
I really love their takes on relationships as well. The show covers a range of relationship such as long distance, friends with benefits, and interracial dating.
Most of the lessons I have learned from the show are from their love stories. It also shows how hard it is to get over heartbreak. It shows that relationships take time and there are ups and downs. If you really care about someone, you will find your way back to that person. It shows that the person who you love the most can have the power to hurt you the most. It talks about how it will take time to realize just how deeply you care about someone.
I want to thank this show for always knowing how to cheer me up.
